GLOBAL EDUCATION: PREPARING OUR STUDENTS TO BE CITIZENS OF THE WORLD
A guide to connect students and teachers with resources and inspiration for global exploration & collaboration
ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
It's our job to help our students honor and recognize the goodness in one another, and nothing prepares you to see others with greater empathy than developing relationships with people from all over the world. This website is my attempt to bring a greater focus on GLOBAL LEARNING to all of my colleagues, students, fellow explorers, and future volunteers. I have gathered resources for global learning, travel, teaching, and collaboration.
As a member of the 2016-17 cohort of Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms sponsored by the Department of State, I had the honor of participating in an intensive training which helped me understand the critical role a global perspective plays in today's classroom. In the summer of 2019, I completed the international travel portion of this grant in Peru where I spent one week in an International Baccalaureate COAR school in the San Martin region. This cross-cultural collaboration was transformative. You can read about my journey (and see a video) in the BLOG section. You will find global education resources (including links to international travel) for students and teachers under the EXPLORE category, and opportunities for classroom collaboration in the section entitled COLLABORATE.
My goal is to help Radnor Middle School fulfill its mission which states:
Radnor Middle School is committed to developing students with a global perspective and understanding the world through disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies. The global competencies include:
Investigating the world beyond their immediate environment.
Recognizing perspectives-their own and others.
Communicating ideas effectively with diverse audiences.
Taking action: Students translate their ideas into appropriate actions to improve conditions.
This guide is intended to help us realize our mission. Feel free to contact me for any further information or opportunities for collaboration: jodisabra@gmail.com .
Happy trails!
