Hi, little ones! I miss you all so much, but I’m really excited to become on-line trailblazers with you. Kids all over the world are going to be learning remotely, and we’re no different. We have a few advantages, though, because Team Yellow knows how to collaborate, think through and work together. We will be communicating daily through Schoology, and we’ll build this blog to document this new adventure in learning.
There are a few things to keep in mind…first, remember that this is our classroom, and the language you use here should be appropriate for a classroom. You will be expected to respond to one another’s submissions, and you are expected to post thoughtful responses. Just as we try to do in the classroom, please acknowledge the ideas your classmates share, craft your words carefully, READ OVER YOUR WORK BEFORE SUBMITTING!!, and be your kindest self. Meet your deadlines and let us know if you are having trouble getting to a computer (many of you have to share with siblings and parents while we’re all at home), so just keep us posted if things feel overwhelming. Try to keep up, and remember to do your best work. Remember that everything you post on Schoology is shared with your teachers. Be smart, curious & selective with your words.
Your first assignment is to create your own Reading Zen Zone where you can cozy up and work or read or draw or listen to music or chat with friends, but this is your personal work and chill space. It may help to have some nice pens or paints and books nearby. Shane has his guitar, and I’m sure Annika and Lexi and Estelle have their sketch books. Does everyone have an independent reading book with you? I just got a book through Amazon by my favorite author, Jesmyn Ward. Alright, you have a few things to work on through Schoology, and Ms. Buono and I are going to be busy reading and responding to your work. This is gonna be interesting. We’ll weather it like champs, because WE ARE ALL YELLOW!!!!
